Welcome aboard Gate Charlie 31! Tonight, Thursday Night Flight Club (TNFC) takes us deep into the heart of Australia for a spectacular two-leg adventure through the Australian Outback.
We're trading the busy international airports and familiar airline routes for something a little different — wide-open landscapes, remote communities, rugged desert terrain, and some of the most distinctive scenery Australia has to offer.
Tonight's aircraft is the PMDG Boeing 737-800, wearing the striking Bravo737 custom livery. We'll be operating as Bison 31, taking this beautiful aircraft on a journey from the southern coast of Australia into the vast interior of the continent.
From the coastal city of Adelaide to the famous underground community of Coober Pedy, and finally into Alice Springs, this promises to be an incredible evening of flying!

LEG 1 | ADELAIDE → COOBER PEDY

Our adventure begins in Adelaide, the capital of South Australia. After completing our aircraft setup, preflight checks, FMC programming, and departure preparations, we'll push back and get the Boeing 737-800 underway.
Leaving Adelaide behind, we'll head north across South Australia as the landscape gradually transforms from coastal plains and agricultural country into the dry, rugged terrain of the Australian interior.
Our first destination is Coober Pedy, one of Australia's most unusual towns. Famous for its opal mining industry and underground homes, Coober Pedy sits in the middle of a vast, remote desert landscape.
Arriving here in a Boeing 737-800 should make for a particularly interesting first leg!
LEG 2 | COOBER PEDY → ALICE SPRINGS

🛬 Arrival: Alice Springs Airport (YBAS)
After our stop in Coober Pedy, we'll get the aircraft ready for the second leg of tonight's TNFC adventure.
Continuing north, we'll fly deeper into Australia's Red Centre, where expansive desert landscapes, ancient geological formations, and the rugged MacDonnell Ranges dominate the scenery.
Our final destination is Alice Springs, one of Australia's most recognizable outback communities and an important aviation gateway to the country's remote interior.
We'll bring Bison 31 in for the final approach, landing, and taxi to conclude another Thursday Night Flight Club adventure.

Tonight we're flying the PMDG 737-800, one of the most detailed and enjoyable airliners available for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
The aircraft features the distinctive Bravo737 custom livery, with its dramatic black, red, and white color scheme and striking tail artwork.
Throughout the evening, we'll work through realistic airline operations, including:
Aircraft preparation and cockpit setup
Flight management computer programming
Performance calculations and departure planning
Pushback, engine start, and taxi operations
Realistic Boeing 737 flight procedures
Enroute navigation and flight management
Arrival planning, approaches, and landings
VATSIM ATC interactions when available
Whether you're a Boeing enthusiast, a flight simulation veteran, or someone who simply enjoys exploring the world from the flight deck, there's plenty to enjoy tonight.
🌏 EXPLORING THE AUSTRALIAN OUTBACK
One of the best things about Microsoft Flight Simulator is the opportunity to experience places we might never otherwise visit.
Australia's interior offers a completely different flying environment from the major airline corridors we're accustomed to.
Vast distances, isolated airports, dramatic changes in terrain, and incredible scenery make this region particularly rewarding to explore.
Coober Pedy is especially interesting because of its history as an opal mining town, where residents have built underground homes and businesses to escape the extreme desert temperatures.
Alice Springs, meanwhile, serves as an important regional center surrounded by some of Australia's most spectacular natural landscapes.
Tonight is as much about enjoying the journey and exploring these unique destinations as it is about flying the aircraft.

TNFC is our weekly opportunity to get together, enjoy some aviation, explore interesting routes, and share a few hours of flight simulation with the Gate Charlie 31 community.
Some weeks we visit major international airports. Other weeks we venture into smaller regional destinations, challenging terrain, or parts of the world we haven't explored before.
